Power BI is the gold standard for cloud-based report delivery, and forms the reporting component of Microsoft Fabric. It's very approachable - you can get up and running with it in minutes, but it's also very robust, secure and extensible. As you might expect, it has many pieces and nuances, and it's important to understand what is possible, even if you may not take immediate advantage of some features, to understand what to use when. 
 
This all day tutorial will explore the way that Power BI works, and what it can do. We will walk through its architecture, the Power BI web service, Power BI Desktop and how it works with Microsoft Excel. Then we focus on the relationship with SharePoint, what can be done in an on premises or hybrid environment and how to connect it and refresh it with all sorts of data. Finally, we will cover off how it is licensed, and a whole host of other miscellaneous topics including how it works on its own, and within Microsoft Fabric. 
 
This tutorial consists of a mix of theory and demonstrations, with emphasis on the demonstrations using real world data. It is designed for the beginner and the novice user, but even advanced users will find some nuggets of new information. Power BI is a fast moving, and ever-changing product, and this tutorial is constantly updated to reflect that.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Power BI

The extensibility landscape of Microsoft 365 can be convoluted and confusing. In this session I will explore real world user scenarios that were automated by artfully combining various extensibility methods of the Microsoft 365 platform into one cohesive solution. My goal for this session is to have you start imagining how you can take solutions well beyond just a web part or just an application customizer into more robust fully functional end to end solutions.
We'll do that by discussing a problem statement, analyzing the different ways we could leverage the platform, discussing the final architecture, and when appropriate diving into bits of code where the implementation details are important.

Extending Microsoft 365: Exploring the Art of the Possible

I will be discussing how to leverage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) to improve business capabilities between on-premises and the cloud (including the edge). Using technologies such as Hyper Converged platform within the datacenter and edge based on VMware Ready Nodes, and Nutanix platforms. Included will be Networking Topologies to interconnect all aspects of a hybrid cloud. 

We will cover tools to manage and automate the environment using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and tools such as HashiCorp Packer and Terraform for application deployments use cases. Environment Recover in the event of a cyber-attack and application testing.  
Other topics will also be how to manage storage of data using Object Based Storage such as MINIO and other cloud-based options. Also covered will be data protection use cases between OnPrem and Cloud.

SharePoint and OneDrive include several content recovery options for SharePoint and OneDrive for Business administrators, site collection administrators, and end users. Educating your end users on SharePoint recovery options like the site recycle bin, versioning, and site collection recycle bin can lighten the burden on your admins.

Using either a GUI or PowerShell you can backup and restore your entire SharePoint Server farm or components of it. In SharePoint Server you can also perform more granular content backups by exporting site collections, site, libraries, and lists, and there are  options for recovering these site collections, sites, lists and libraries from content databases that are no longer part of your SharePoint Server farm. 

With a vast majority of your SharePoint Server content stored in SQL Server it is imperative that you have an efficient way to recover items or entire databases as quickly as possible.

This discussion will introduce the Best Practices framework that will allow your SharePoint Server  administrators to configure SharePoint as well as SQL Server for quick content recovery, minimizing the downtime and providing shorter and achievable Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
